Feral GameMode 1.1 Benchmark

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Feral GameMode 1.1 Benchmark and when we go back to the latest comparison that we did here, we get average 26.4 fps, minimum 9.3 fps and maximum was 34.8 with different setting though you can see there.

This time we are using Deus Ex Mankind Divided and Rise of the Tomb Raider in  3840×2160 resolution in both tests (Rise of the Tomb Raider showing 5760×2160 which is wrong) 1080Ti graphics card and NVIDIA 396.24 driver in Fedora 28

So lets see if the latest update Feral GameMode 1.1 gives some improvements.

First we see the results here with Feral GameMode and Deus Ex Mankind Divided

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11264MB on Fedora 28 via the Phoronix Test Suite.

With Feral GameMode

With Feral GameMode

And here is the result with Feral GameMode disabled:

Feral GameMode Disabled

Feral GameMode Disabled

52.83 fps with Feral GameMode and 53.20 fps without which is no improvement at all.

We also compared Rise of the Tomb Raider here with Vulkan to see the results here with No GameMode:

Rise Of The Tomb Raider No GameMode

Rise Of The Tomb Raider No GameMode

Rise Of The Tomb Raider No GameMode

And here with Feral GameMode:

Rise of the Tomb Raider With GameMode

Rise of the Tomb Raider With GameMode

Rise of the Tomb Raider With GameMode

Rise of the Tomb Raider With GameMode

Conclusion:

In both tests with Deus Ex and Rise of the Tomb Raider  we get lower fps with Feral GameMode in Fedora 28 and NVIDIA 396.24 driver. But in Rise of the Tomb Raider we see a bigger gap with Vulkan.

How this is possible is the question but this is really the reality as we can see above clearly. The results should be really reversed.

  1. Interesting results. I must ask what type of kernel were you using and what CPU does your benchmark system run. Is it AMD or Intel? And I wonder if it’s Ryzen it is due to architectural differences. Who knows? All hyperbole from me anyway 🙂

Great site btw, just found it randomly.
